Ashok Reddy Polu, M.D.

Dr. Ashok Reddy Polu is a board-eligible vascular neurologist specializing in stroke and other acute neurologic conditions. He cares for general neurology and stroke patients primarily in the inpatient setting at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, but also provides tele-stroke consultations to several other OLOL affiliated hospitals.

Dr. Polu obtained his medical degree from American International Medical University in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. Relocating to the United States in 2015, Dr. Polu completed his residency in preliminary medicine at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Illinois before completing a residency in Neurology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. Most recently, Dr. Polu completed his fellowship in Vascular Neurology from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.  

As NMCC’s second neurohospitalist, Dr. Polu expands NMCC’s ability to care for patients who are hospitalized following neurological episodes including stroke, aneurysms, and seizures. Dr. Polu’s addition greatly improves NMCC’s and all of Baton Rouge’s ability to care for patients with neurological disease by ensuring patients receive early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
