Special Interests: Psychological evaluation of neurologically compromised patients.

Dr. Brown is a fellowship-trained, medical (prescribing) clinical psychologist at The NeuroMedical Center Clinic. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville before earning the first of two doctoral degrees. Dr. Brown has a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of California-San Francisco and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Dr. Brown also underwent a two-year post-doctoral degree program in psychopharmacology. Before moving to Louisiana to practice, Dr. Brown completed an internship at VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health System in Biloxi, Mississippi where she spent a year helping veterans cope with PTSD and other mental health problems in individual and group therapy settings.

Prior to joining The NeuroMedical Center in 2012, Dr. Brown spent four years as a clinical psychologist within the LSU Health Science Center’s Juvenile Correctional Program and eight years as a state psychologist for Louisiana’s Department of Health and Hospitals.

While at LSU, Dr. Brown performed comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations for children and adolescents within the juvenile justice system. Her expertise helped develop treatment plans that targeted symptoms and behaviors requiring intervention. At DHH, Dr. Brown helped secure $30 million dollars in federal grant money from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to improve the quality and availability of prevention, treatment and rehabilitative services for people with substance abuse issues or mental health illnesses in Louisiana.

In her private practice, Dr. Brown continued working with children and from 2007-2011 performed more than 500 psychological evaluations on kids and teens in state care or custody. She served as a consultant to adolescent caseworkers and provided expert testimony to the juvenile courts based on her mental health assessments.

Dr. Brown is a licensed clinical psychologist. Her interests include the psychological assessment and treatment of neurologically-compromised patients.  She is currently accepting new patients.
