Dr. Bowie is a native of Eunice, Louisiana. He majored in Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University and received his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. Dr. Bowie completed both his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Before returning home to practice in South Louisiana, Dr. Bowie completed an extensive fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery/Neuro Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Bowie joined The NeuroMedical Center’s Neurosurgery department in July 2014, and often returns to his hometown, connecting with patients at The NeuroMedical Center’s satellite clinic location in Eunice. He remains very involved in the St. Edmund community where he attended high school. Dr. Bowie is devoted to delivering superb patient care in Louisiana, a place that will always have a special place in his heart. Dr. Charles Bowie is board certified in neurological surgery.
As a part of The NeuroMedical Center’s leading-edge neurosurgery team, Dr. Bowie offers his patients the least invasive options available to treat the full range of common to complex neurosurgical disorders. He possesses highly specialized knowledge and training in minimally-invasive and open aneurysm surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery for the treatment of brain tumors and other central nervous system disorders, and comprehensive care for stroke and other complex cerebral vascular conditions. As one of South Louisiana’s top spine care experts, Dr. Bowie’s surgical expertise includes the treatment of degenerative disorders of the spine such as lumbar and cervical stenosis, spinal compression, herniated or ruptured discs, or osteoarthritis. Dr. Bowie is currently accepting new patients and provides expert neurosurgical evaluation and treatment at The NeuroMedical Center’s main campus in Baton Rouge and at our neurosurgery clinic in Eunice. His physician assistants include Taylor Bishop, PA-C and Valarie Comeau, PA-C.
