The next revolution in minimally-invasive spinal surgery
Neurosurgeons at The NeuroMedical Center were some of the first in the nation to offer robot-assisted spinal surgery with the Mazor Robotics Renaissance® Guidance System. This latest revolution in spine surgery turns free-hand procedures into highly-accurate robotic procedures, allowing our surgeons to perform complex surgeries with never-before-seen precision. Combined with minimally-invasive techniques that minimize scarring and pain during recovery, the advanced spine robot offers our patients higher success rates and shorter recovery times.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Robot-guided spine surgery ensures the best possible surgical outcomes for our patients by allowing our surgeons to plan an optimal surgery, before even stepping foot into the operating room. Before surgery, the robotic system takes a patient’s CT scans to create a comprehensive 3D ‘blueprint’ of the spine. During surgery, and with the surgeon in full control, the robot uses this blueprint to guide the surgeon’s hands and tools to the precise and planned location of surgery, including the exact position and placement of pedicles and screws.
BENEFITS OF ROBOTIC SPINE SURGERY
Robotic spine surgery allows our patients to return to active lifestyles in a number of ways:
- Improved Surgical Accuracy
- Reduction in Potential Complications
- Small Incisions
- Less Tissue Damage
- Shorter Hospital Stays
- Less Painful Recovery
Additionally, improved imaging of the new robotic system limits the use of x-rays needed to complete many spine surgeries—dramatically reducing the amount of radiation exposure endured by the surgical patient.
CONDITIONS TREATED BY ROBOT-ASSISTED SPINAL SURGERY
Robotic spine surgery enhances surgical care for a wide variety of spinal conditions including:
LEADING-EDGE SPINE SURGERY IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA
With the launch of our Robotic Spine Surgery program, neurosurgeons at The NeuroMedical Center are some of the nation’s first and few providers to offer both robot-assisted and laser spine surgery for the treatment of common to complex spinal conditions. Both technologies are available at The Spine Hospital of Louisiana.
