Dr. Gary J. Walker is a board certified neurologist specializing in stroke and other neurovascular and neurologic disorders.  He cares for general neurology and stroke patients primarily in the hospital with plans to see patients in the NeuroMedical Center’s outpatient clinic as well.

He graduated from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge before graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Biology at Louisiana State University.  He then received his medical degree at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.  Dr. Walker then moved to Colorado to complete his internal medicine and neurology residency, as well as his vascular neurology fellowship, at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.

As a neurohospitalist and stroke specialist, Dr. Walker’s dedicated role is the care of patients who are hospitalized at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center following acute neurological problems including conditions such as strokes, aneurysms, and seizures. His expertise greatly improves The NeuroMedical Center’s and all of Baton Rouge’s ability to care for patients with neurological disease by ensuring patients receive early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.  Dr. Walker’s addition to The NeuroMedical Center’s Neurology team also enables his colleagues who specialize in a variety of other neurological conditions to focus on providing focused care to their patients at our outpatient Neurology clinic.
