Dr. Bowie is a native of Eunice, Louisiana. He majored in Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University and received his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. Dr. Bowie completed both his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Before returning home to practice in South Louisiana, Dr. Bowie completed fellowship training in Endovascular Neurosurgery/Neuro Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Bowie joined The NeuroMedical Center’s neurosurgery department in July 2014, and often returns to his hometown, connecting with patients at The NeuroMedical Center’s satellite clinic location in Eunice. He remains very involved in the St. Edmund community where he attended high school. Dr. Bowie is devoted to delivering superb patient care in Louisiana, a place that will always have a special place in his heart. Dr. Charles Bowie is board certified in neurological surgery.
As a part of The NeuroMedical Center’s team of highly trained neurosurgeons, Dr. Bowie performs operations to treat complex cerebral vascular conditions, such as stroke, vertebral stenosis and intracranial stenosis, and aneurysms. His surgical expertise also includes treatment of cranial and spinal tumors and degenerative disorders of the spine such as stenosis, spinal compression, herniated or ruptured discs, or osteoarthritis.
He also specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, and is proud to offer his patients the most advanced laser spine surgery. In fact, The Spine Hospital of Louisiana is the only facility in the Gulf Coast region to provide this service. With the precision of a laser, this type of spine surgery delivers smaller incisions which means shorter recovery time for patients. Laser spine surgery can be beneficial for patients suffering with spinal injuries, spinal stenosis or other degenerative conditions.
Dr. Bowie is currently accepting new patients and provides services for his patients at our main campus in Baton Rouge and at our Eunice and Hammond (42131 Veterans Ave) satellite offices. To schedule a consultation, call 225-769-2200.
