Jon D. Olson, M.D.

Dr. Olson is the Greater Baton Rouge Area’s only board-certified, fellowship-trained neurologist and neuro-oncologist, specializing in the treatment of brain tumors, multiple sclerosis and neurologic complications of cancer since joining The NeuroMedical Center in 1999.

Dr. Olson earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He completed his neurology residency at the University of Rochester in New York, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a two-year fellowship in neuro-oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, receiving advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of primary central nervous system tumors, specifically brain tumors.

As a neuro-oncologist, Dr. Olson is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care and advocacy for patients with primary brain tumors and brain metastases from other systemic cancers. He believes in a compassionate, personalized approach to care, recognizing that each patient’s condition and journey is unique.

Dr. Olson is a member of the Society of Neuro-Oncology, the American Academy of Neurology, the Louisiana State Medical Society and the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society. His clinical interests include the treatment of brain tumors, including glioblastoma, astrocytoma and meningioma. 

He currently leads several clinical trials for tumor patients, including the NCI-MATCH trial and the newly launched Gliofocus trial in collaboration with the Ivy Brain Tumor Center.

Dr. Olson is currently accepting new patients for both general neurology and neuro-oncology care.
