The NeuroMedical Center’s Neurodiagnostic Laboratory Receives National Accreditation
June 5, 2017 3:23 pmThe NeuroMedical Center Clinic (NMCC) is pleased to announce its Neurodiagnostic Laboratory, under the direction of Medical Director, Dr. Darian E. Reddick, has received Laboratory Accreditation with Exemplary Status from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). NMCC’s Neurodiagnostic Lab, specializing in electrodiagnostic (EDX) testing, is the only one in Baton Rouge, and one of only five in Louisiana to receive this prestigious designation.
The AANEM established laboratory accreditation criteria for electrodiagnostic (EDX) laboratories to ensure patients receive quality medical care in a safe environment. Laboratory accreditation provides patients, referral sources, and payers with a credible measure to differentiate the laboratory’s quality of care. Exemplary Status is the highest level of accreditation an EDX laboratory can achieve under the AANEM Accreditation Program.
“Our lab receiving the premier level of accreditation for an EDX lab is further proof that the very best in neurological care is available right here in Baton Rouge,” says neurologist and neuromuscular medicine specialist, Dr. Darian E. Reddick who has headed NMCC’s Neurodiagnostic Lab since 2016. “This is a significant achievement that truly shows our entire team’s unwavering commitment to setting the bar higher when it comes to performing quality patient testing and overall laboratory practices.”
In most simple terms, EDX testing is performed with equipment that uses electrical signals to diagnose conditions which affect nerves and muscles. The most commonly used EDX testing methods performed by NMCC’s board certified neurologists include electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) used for the treatment and diagnosis of conditions including ALS, myasthenia gravis, back & neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and more. NMCC’s Neurodiagnostic Lab is located on the 4thFloor of the NeuroMedical Center campus, in Perkins Rowe.
