Dr. Kevin P. McCarthy specializes in spinal disorder treatment, with a focus on minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal deformity, and cervical spine procedures.  He is a highly trained orthopedic surgeon who takes pride in staying on top of the latest technological advances to provide the best in pediatric and adult spinal treatment.

Dr. McCarthy earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from Michigan State University with high honors. He holds a medical degree from Wayne State University, where he graduated in the top 20% of his class. Continuing his training, Dr. McCarthy completed an orthopaedic residency at Tulane Medical Center. His time there was distinguished with several top honors, including the Sherman Award for outstanding second year resident. He also was honored with the Thibodeaux Award, an accolade reserved for a senior resident who best exemplifies leadership and intelligence.

Dr. McCarthy went on to serve as administrative chief resident at Tulane Medical Center. Later, he gained additional specialized surgical training by completing a fellowship in pediatric and adult spine surgery.

With his specialized skills, Dr. McCarthy offers expert treatment for all spinal disorders. At The Spine Center of Baton Rouge, he performs a range of advanced surgeries, including robotic minimally-invasive spine surgery and robotic spine surgery.
