(BATON ROUGE, LA)  The Spine Hospital of Louisiana at The NeuroMedical Center Lab under the direction of Medical Director Dr. Brian W. Webb, has been selected as the recipient of the COLA Laboratory Excellence Award, extending its streak to eight consecutive years.

The Laboratory of Excellence Award signifies a laboratory’s commitment to performing quality patient testing and overall laboratory practices. The honor is achieved by those COLA laboratories that are found to be compliant with all COLA essential and required criteria at the time of an on-site survey conducted at The Spine Hospital of Louisiana on November 12, 2015. In addition, award recipients have demonstrated successful proficiency testing for the prior three testing events and have no valid complaints against the laboratory.

“Since 2007, The Spine Hospital of Louisiana Laboratory team has continued to raise the bar when it comes to delivering the absolute highest level of patient care” says Robert D. Blair, CEO of The Spine Hospital of Louisiana. “A national honor of this magnitude speaks volumes about a team that has been committed to detail, accuracy and delivering flawless results for eight straight years. I commend Dr. Webb and our Director of Laboratory Services, Bonita Newport, on this tremendous accomplishment. Our win is a victory for all of our patients and the great communities we serve!”

COLA accredits almost 8,000 medical laboratories and provides the clinical laboratory with a program of education, consultation, and accreditation. The organization is an independent, non-profit accreditor whose education program and standards enable clinical laboratories and staff to meet U.S. CLIA and other regulatory requirements. COLA is approved by the federal government and sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians – American Society of Internal Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association.

The Spine Hospital of Louisiana, voted #1 Hospital of Louisiana (<60 beds) by The Louisiana Nurses Foundation in 2015, is fully equipped with 23 inpatient beds, 4 operating rooms, 3 pain procedure rooms, a state-of-the-art Imaging Center, a Neurodiagnostic Lab as well as a nationally-accredited Sleep Center.  The Spine Hospital of Louisiana is rated a five-star hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) based on overall patient satisfaction and quality of care. According to CMS data, only seven percent of the 3,500 Medicare-certified hospitals nationwide received the highest rating based on patient satisfaction and experience based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey.
