TYPES OF BRAIN TUMORS

Brain tumors are different for every patient.  They form in different areas, develop their own behaviors, and may have different treatment options. A tumor can be classified based on where the cells originated, and whether they are cancerous.

  • Primary: A tumor that originates in cells of the brain.
  • Metastatic: A tumor that originates in another part of the body and then spreads to the brain.
  • Benign: The least aggressive type of tumor, originating from slow-growing, non-cancerous cells
  • Malignant: Type of tumor that contains cancerous cells and are considered to be life-threatening.
