Dr Calegan is a native of south Louisiana. He graduated valedictorian from Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, then went on to LSU where he received a degree in Petroleum Engineering, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Calegan received his medical degree from Tulane University,in New Orleans, Louisiana where he graduated with honors.He completed his internship at Baptist Health System in Birmingham, Alabama, followed by a residency in neurology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. He served his final year of residency as the Chief Resident of the University of Alabama Department of Neurology. After his residency, Dr. Calegan stayed at the University of Alabama to complete a Fellowship in Movement Disorders. The training included the treatment
of Parkinson's Disease, dystonia, and tremors, along with the placement and programming of deep brain stimulators, as well as special techniques for botox injections for dystonia, tremors, and other neurological disorders. He joined The NeuroMedical Center in 2006 and is board certified in neurology.
