On March 28, 2008 at the Camelot Club, over a hundred of Dr. John R. Clifford’s closest friends and colleagues honored him for 32 years of dedicated service as a neurosurgeon at The NeuroMedical Center. Numerous physicians, friends, and family spoke eloquently of Dr. Clifford’s innate ability to balance work and family and how he served as an example to all of what a father, husband, friend, physician, and gentleman should be. Dr. Clifford was commended for not only sharing his medical expertise, with those in need, but for his caring heart and compassion exhibited in the treatment of his patients.

In January 1976, Dr. Clifford started his neurosurgical practice by joining Dr. Flynn in Baton Rouge. Dr. Flynn and Dr. Clifford then recruited Dr. Sam Levert and incorporated their practice as Flynn, Clifford, and Levert, APMC. The practice name was later changed to Baton Rouge Neurological and Neurosurgical Associates in 1978, and then to The NeuroMedical Center in 1986.

As a neurosurgeon, Dr. Clifford was a vital asset to Baton Rouge and surrounding communities, particularly in the 1970’s and 1980’s when he was one of only a handful of neurosurgeons in the state.
