Dr. April Erwin’s Educational Background?
Dr. April Erwin got her advanced studies started right down the road from The NeuroMedical Center at Baton Rouge’s Louisiana State University. With degrees in both philosophy and religious studies, Erwin graduated top of her class at the summa cum laude level. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she made her way to New Orleans, where she got a master’s degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Upon completion of this degree, she attended the medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. From her extended education period in Louisiana, she then went to work at Georgetown University Hospital in the country’s capital, Washington, D.C. Her she completed her internship, a residency in neurology, and then a fellowship in multiple sclerosis. In 2010 and 2011, during her residency in neurology at Georgetown University Hospital, she served as Chief Resident.

In addition to these speaking events, she sits on numerous advisory boards pertaining to multiple sclerosis.
With such obvious knowledge on the subject, it should be no surprise to hear that in 2016 she was awarded with a very prestigious award highlighting her contributions to the disease. The award is becoming an official Partner in Multiple Sclerosis Care and is the highest honest the organization can give. It shows that the National Multiple Sclerosis Society sees and values the tremendous work she has done in the field. This society is the largest of its type in the world, so it a huge honor to have received such distinctions. To this day she remains of the very few doctors in Louisiana to have gotten this award.
